We are thrilled to share that Cityblock has announced $65M in Series B funding. Cityblock delivers better health to Medicaid and dual eligible beneficiaries, strengthening our country’s basic health safety net. By partnering with local community-based organizations, creating custom-built technology for personalized care, and forging trusted relationships among care teams and members, Cityblock is on a path to improving health for millions of people around the country.

At Maverick Ventures, we seek to support companies that are pushing the needle, tackling nuanced and complex issues, and making society healthier and more equitable in the process. Cityblock does exactly that by tackling one of our greatest societal challenges — access to quality and affordable care.

We saw right away how determined the Cityblock team is to improve health in lower-income communities that have consistently been left behind by the traditional healthcare system. Since leading the Series A funding round last year, we’ve seen firsthand the impact their team is making every day. In just 18 months since launch, the Cityblock team has built a provider technology stack with Commons, their care delivery platform, as a key driver of their care model. They deploy this technology and novel care model together, today serving thousands of members from lower-income communities in New York and Connecticut. Later this year, Cityblock will bring better care to neighborhoods across North Carolina as a partner in Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina’s initiative to improve primary care and lead innovation in Medicaid managed care.

The Cityblock team has grown to almost 180 professionals bridging the healthcare and technology worlds. Every day, the team is delivering the kind of care that everyone should have access to — affordable and easy to navigate.

Congratulations to Cityblock on their new funding that will enable the team to bring better care to more people and communities around the country.
